Monday - biweekly day off 01/16/2012
I am off work every other Monday. At DTC we work flex hours, working 9 hours a day for 9 days and then we are off the 10th day. I love it and call it Bonus coverage. Kortni had a pair of shoes and boots that needed to have the heel tips replaced. I took these to the local shoe repair place for repair. The shoe repair shop called later in the afternoon and said the shoes and boots were ready. Now - that is customer service, same day service. I also picked up a replacement cable converter from Cox. Our second cable convertor box went out from a recent temporary power outage. Kellie had to go to the hospital after work because her Dad had not been eating his meals. Kellie sent me a text earlier and said it look like her dad was going downhill a little. Kellie is a great daughter and she is taking care of her daddy. I check my company e-mail periodically on my iPhone when I am off work. I replied to some e-mails that needed my attention and worked on one project for a Regional Vice President. Sunday - it's a HUGE day of KG moving 01/16/2012
Project for the day - move KG into her new dorm room at the U of A. We slept in and Kellie woke up first as always and made us family breakfast. I had 2 eggs, thick slab bacon and toast. I put grape jelly on my eggs and it makes them green - its fun. It taste good and will take you to a happy place. We arrived at Kortni's dorm in the afternoon around 2:30 p.m. We left to come home around 9:00 p.m. It was a bigger project than we thought it was going to be. WOW! - that girl has some stuff. From the 9th floor to the 2nd floor, sometimes using the elevator and sometimes the stairs. We also helped the room mate that was moving out of Kortni's new dorm room. In the early evening a couple of Kortni's guy friends showed up and we took them to dinner with us. We went to Chili's and had a great time and a whole lot of laughs. Kortni has made some good friends and created some good relationships during her first semester of college. Kortni is excited about her new room mate. Saturday - NFL playoff games & more... 01/14/2012
I went to bed early on Friday night around 8:30 p.m. It was a rare day on Friday waking up with a "frog" in my throat and sneezing more than I should be sneezing. I have found in the past that in order to overcome something that is bothering me physically I get extra rest. Feeling better this Saturday morning. Somebody shout out - "Glory!". Kellie left the house around 8:30 a.m. to go the hospital to spend the day with her Dad. Bob (Kellie's Dad aka "Big Chief Full of Bull") is still recovering from gall bladder surgery. Kellie's other two sisters have been taking turns spending the day with Bob at the hospital. I have been washing towels - pretty good at this. Also washed dishes - why do I like washing dishes, why? Excited about watching the NFL Divisional Playoff games today. The 1st game - Saints vs 49ers, 2nd game - Broncos vs Patriots. Going Saints & Broncos. Drew Brees & Tim Tebow playing on the same day there's only one word for that - HALLELUJAH! Really have enjoyed the excitement that Tebowing has brought to the attention of our Nation. Tebow's Christian example is causing a stir on ESPN, all the national TV networks & world. It's a great time for the Believer. Tebow mania is alive in well & it's fun stuff. 1st game update - Saints lose a heartbreaker game. 49ers defense stepped up and the DB's played well against Drew Brees passing attack. 2nd game update - Broncos led by Tim Tebow were mismatched against the Patriots. I turned this game off at halftime and switched to the Razorback basketball game. Hogs won at home as they played LSU. almost Friday day - shivery me timbers 01/12/2012
Winter cold blast today - cool temps with a strong artic blast wind. Good day of field tech support. I love the feeling of resolving people's computer problem issues. Thankful for the career God has given to me to that allows me to use my 24 years of computer experience. My fellow team member James and I had lunch with a couple of branch managers from Louisiana today. That's a neat bonus & a cool blessing for me. James was going to make a point with an illustration and said - "Kirk, if someone took your keys and said Hey your truck is not starting, What would you say, Kirk? I answered - "Hey, that's not my truck." We laughed on that one. Gosh - it was a funny moment. a different day - this Tuesday 01/10/2012
Rainy "dreary" day outside, busy day in field support for me and I left early to go to the hospital. Kellie's dad "Bob" went to the hospital last night. He was not doing well and Kellie and Cindy were concerned about him because things were just not right. The Doctors discovered he had an inflamed gall bladder and it needed to be removed. Today Bob went into surgery around 5:30 p.m. After the surgery the Doctor came and said the gall bladder was really inflamed with gangrene. Bob was in a very dangerous situation, God once again intervened and answered our prayers. Bob will be in the hospital for a few days as they give him large doses of antibiotics. While at the hospital I took food orders for Kellie, Jan and Cindy and went to Wendys to pickup their food. I walked to Wendys which is directly across the street from Wendys. It was cold, damp and windy but I was on a mission for the girls. I stopped on the way home and picked up Subway for Kortni. I came home and had fun food - peanut butter and jelly sandwich plus BBQ chips. Now it is after 10:00 p.m. and Kortni and I are watching a DVR recording of The Biggest Loser. We are waiting for Kellie to come home, she is tired and I know ready to come home. loved this day - inside the family bubble 01/08/2012
Kellie went to early church to help @ the Welcome Center. Kortni & I slept in. Sleeping in is always "Bonus" coverage. It's a great thing - it's a good thing. After church we went to go eat at Kortni's favorite Hispanic church - La Good Cheese Dip. Then we watched the 1st NFL playoff game - Falcons vs Giants. Giants won big, it was a terrible game to watch. Falcons could not do anything. The 2nd NFL playoff game - Steelers vs Broncos. Tim Tebow defeated all his naysayers and threw some incredible passes. Tim Tebow threw 2 TD passes and ran for 1 TD. At the end of the 4th quarter, the game was tied - 23-23. Denver wins the coin toss and takes possession of the ball. Tim Tebow throws a direct strike to the WR #88 and he scores. Broncos Win - BRONCOS WIN!!! Take that ESPN & all the other Sports Networks. Tebow believes in himself and his God that he serves and loves so MUCH. After the game we had a family cleaning session of the living room and kitchen. When 3 people start cleaning, things start moving quickly and happen fast. Clean is good and it always make you happy. Next football game - GODADDY.com Bowl. Arkansas State Red Wolves vs Northen Illinoi. Taylor Stockemer #2 WR is the son of Angie Jamieson. I work with Angie at DTC. Taylor is a great WR and a smart exceptional student. Arkansas State University Red Wolves lose a tough game. Taylor had a great Bowl game including 185 yards receiving and 1 Touchdown pass. Cotton Bowl 2012 - was a a great game for the Arkansas Razorbacks. A good game to watch for the Razorback Nation. It's a proud time to be a Razorback Fan. Hogs season ends at 11-2. That is an incredible accomplishment. Really excited for Tyler #8. He ommanded the Offense and was a leader on the field. Almost Friday - it's my favorite day 01/05/2012
I always say good days are great days. Today lunch with friends and buds from work, resolved lots of problems, made people laugh, helped Kellie's Dad by delivering another mattress to him. Kortni surprised me and made supper. She cooked - penne pasta. It really was good and KG did an incredible amaZing job. It was a good day - it was a great day. Tonight when I was driving home I noticed the odometer on my red truck turning over to 110,000. That will make a man proud or say ouch. Me, it makes me say - "I ain't scared". We all turnover something sometime. Turnover things like - not gonna make that mistake again, learned my lesson on that one, I guarantee that won't happen anymore. Turnover can be a good thing, it's how we look at it or accept what has happened. Turnovers takes it from the situation to the realization. Wednesday - ending an era 01/04/2012
Good day back after the New Year's holiday. Started with my traditional Big Red soda. Worked quickly to get caught up from being off work to stay ahead of the support calls from the terminals. Began eating Turkey franks for lunch instead of my traditional beef hot dogs. Turkey franks just kind of sounds fancy huh? I sent an e-mail to Pastor Josh of 180 Remix on Tuesday hat I was going to retire at the end of this month. I feel that it is time for me to hang it up. It's been 5 or 6 years, I can't remember exactly. I need to fire up my desktop computer and check my e-mails from Pastor Josh as to when I actually began my 2nd career of Youth ministry at 180 Remix. I loved being a part of the Youth ministry and working to make a difference in my ministry involvement. I will write more from my heart for the next few weeks and as the ministry for me comes to an end. Company football pool update - as I watch the Orange Bowl and as West Virginia takes Clemson to slaughter, I am happy and grateful that I am still leading the Season Championship. I am now 22 out of 31 games with 2 games left plus the Tie breaker game which is the National Championship game on Monday night. Tuesday - a good day of doing good 01/03/2012
Tuesday and I was off work due to my flex day. I am off work every other Monday. We work 9 hours for 9 days and then we get a day off. So every other Monday I have the days off and a 4 day work week. It's a great plan and MUCH appreciated. Kellie had a low tire almost flat this morning so she drive Kortni's car to work. Kortni is still home for the holidays and we are loving her being home. I aired Kellie's tire up and drove it to the tire shop. There were two staples in the tire. Gotta watch them staples not good. Went to Mc'D's and brought lunch to Kellie. Kortni went to Fayetteville to hang out with a friend and then go to the RaZorback basketball game. Go Hogs Go... Kellie & I worked out after dinner and then watched The Biggest Loser. We have been watching this show since the beginning. It's a great show to watch as real stores are unveiled. Lot of inspiration and hope as the contestants work towards changing their lifestyles. Now we are watching the Sugar Bowl - Michigan vs Virginia Tech. I have Virginia Tech in the company football pool. I need the Hokies to win this game. I can't believe the poor coaching job that the Virginia Tech Coach has done in this game. Unbelievable poor play calling on 3rd and 4th downs. Now I am 22 out of 30 in the company football ball. I have moved done to tied for 4th place. However I am still leading the Season Championship - Yes! | it's me - KirkLove people - love to help people - love to make things better for people.
